Eight indebted municipalities could be left in the dark after the High Court in Pretoria has ruled Eskom is allowed to cut power supply.

A judge has dismissed an application by civil group AfriForum, saying municipalities must be brought to book.
The court ruled that the rights of Eskom’s consumers cannot trump its right to lawfully collect debt from owing municipalities.
