Police officer arrested on murder charges #HatfieldShooting

Eyewitness News reporter, Barry Bateman, says witnesses on the scene confirmed that the deceased is an employee of the Department of Telecommunications and Postal Services

It is believed that the man was shot dead after he failed to stop at a roadblock near the Gautrain station in Hatfield.

One witness told me that one police officer was standing in front of the vehicle when the driver pushed forward the car against the metro police's legs.

At one point the metro police officer slapping the car, telling the man to stop, shortly the man allegedly pulled out the firearm and shot him once through the front windscreen into the chest, and the man died on the scene.

There are several people on the scene who confirmed that the person was his colleague.

The police officer accused has been arrested on charges of murder.
