Universities South Africa CEO, Professor Ahmed Bawa, says parents need to consider sending their children to Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) colleges.
Bawa says universities have received too many applications from students who meet minimum academic requirements for 2017.
The 200 000 thousand spaces available at universities for new students are not sufficient to meet the numbers that qualify for placement.
My advice to parents is to look carefully. Not only look at what are the interests of young people, but also to look at the labour market carefully, and try and understand which kind of education will give them the best chance of getting into labour market.— Professor Ahmed Bawa, Universities South Africa CEO
