Dlamini-Zuma part of ANC's lacklustre old furniture - political analyst

Eusebius McKaiser kicked off his first show by looking at the candidacy of African Union (AU) chairperson and former President Jacob Zuma's wife, Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, as the potential first female president for South Africa.

African National Congress Women's League (ANCWL) has openly endorsed Dlamini-Zuma to be the ANC's president as the party goes to national elective conference in December.

Despite Dlamini-Zuma's previous top positions in the Ministries of Home Affairs, Health and Foreign Affairs and chairing the African Union, political analyst, Pirnce Mashele, says she doesn't qualify for the office of the President.

I don’t think Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma is the best of us as South Africans. There is nothing exceptional or outstanding that makes her uniquely qualify for top office.

Prince Mashele, political analyst

Is there an idea that was sharply put on the table - about the character of SA future and where we are supposed to go as a nation - put on the table by Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma?

Prince Mashele, political analyst

She is part of the beautiful ANC furniture item that has decorated the party for many years.

Prince Mashele, political analyst

She doesn’t stand out. If you were to ask me, is there something different between Cryil Ramaphosa and Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, I would answer no.

Prince Mashele, political analyst

Mashele says the leader needs to meet the four requirements.

  • personal integrity
  • economic experience
  • political experience
  • social experience

Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma is an old furniture in the ANC whose gloss has stopped to shine.

Prince Mashele, political analyst

We are debating her and considering her as a possible leader of ANC and country as a sign that our country is bankrupt when it comes to leadership.

Prince Mashele, political analyst
