Social grant beneficiaries to automatically qualify for NFSAS funding

Department of Social Development and National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) announced that 180 000 social grant beneficiaries wrote their matric exams in 2016.

More than 80% of them obtained a diploma or degree pass.

Social Development Minister Bathabile Dlamini says social grant beneficiaries who are academically deserving will automatically qualify for NSFAS funding.

There will not be another need to do an assessment. They won't have to do another need assessment process to establish whether he/she is a deserving person.
