Mugabe spends R491m on travel (but can’t find R3.4m to fight a typhoid outbreak)

Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe spent almost half a billion rand (US$36 million) on travel in the first 10 months of 2016, reports Africa at Work Chief Executive Dianna Games.

This while officials in Harare battle to raise R3.4 million (US$250 000) to fight a typhoid outbreak.

Mugabe is in China as part of a month long holiday abroad.

The economic crisis in Zimbabwe is ongoing.

Consumers can no longer use Visa cards and advisories are warning travellers against spending cash and getting change in bond notes.
