Transport Minister, Dipuo Peters released the statistics for road deaths during the 2016/17 festive season.
The numbers are 5% higher than the previous year’s death toll, with more than 1 700 deaths recorded on South African roads.

The Minister condemned the corrupt behaviour of traffic officers and those working at the vehicle testing centres. She described them as rotten apples.
