Zuma taking over from Zuma is a good thing - Jacob Zuma

President Jacob Zuma says he believes Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma is ready to be ANC president. He also made it clear that it is not true that ANC deputy always takes over, saying anyone can become a president.

The President said "Zuma taking over from Zuma is a good thing"

Dr Sethulego Matebesi, a political analyst at the University of Free State, says Dlamini-Zuma is within her rights to contest for ANC president but that doesn't mean South African's won't ask questions around the succession plans and the way the ANC is doing things.

It will even lead to perceptions of nepotism and bring up all these issues surrounding the tenure of the President and about corruption...

Dr Sethulego Matebesi, political analyst at University of Free State

What is surprising is how bold Zuma is in making this statement. That for me is worrying and very indicative as to where the President wants the leadership battle to go.

This shows that indeed there are afctions within the ANC says MAtebesi. We have Cosatu endorsing the Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa and Zuma himself and the ANCWL saying his ex-wife is the best candidate.
