Ford recalls Kuga (take yours to a dealership ASAP!)

It appears that Ford was instructed to do this by the National Consumer Commission.

Ford South Africa CEO Jeff Nemeth says that a voluntary safety recall for all 1.6l Kuga vehicles has been issued.

Owners must take their vehicles to a dealer as soon as possible.

The safety recall is limited to vehicles sold between December 2012 and February 2014.

He says that, to date, 39 incidents of the vehicle catching fire have been reported to Ford.

The CEO says the cars which have caught alight have been extremely unfortunate and the safety of their customers is their number one priority.

At the same time, Ebrahim Mohamed of the National Consumer Commission says recalling Ford Kuga vehicles is in the best interest of all consumers.

Cape Talk's John Maytham interviewed EWN’s Gia Nicolaides and famed Consumer Journalist Wendy Knowler.
