Eskom acting CEO, Matshela Koko, says they are working with law enforcement agencies to combat the increasing number of people selling illegal prepaid electricity vouchers.
Koko says this syndicate costs Eskom R600 million per annum.
He says four people were arrested in December and found guilty of selling electricity worth R15 000.
We have machines that we used to use for vending a while ago that we have discontinued. And some of them have landed to the wrong hands, and they continue to vend. We call them ghost vending.— Matshela Koko, Eskom acting CEO
He says he can't rule out that people involved are Eskom employees.
