I received death threats, says Sihle Bolani amid ANC 'War Room' saga

Public relations expert Sihle Bolani says her life has been threatened since pursuing a case against the ANC.

I'm being threatened with death. I was advised that a hit has been taken out on me which I've reported to the police and is currently being investigated.

It's alleged the ruling party was involved in a R50 million covert campaign to target opposition parties during last year's local government elections.

Bolani went to court asking a judge to force the ANC to pay her for her role in what she said was a project to use social media to spread disinformation.

She says there is no truth to the ANC's claims that she was merely a volunteer during their 2016 municipal election campaign.

Bolani maintains that she made a formal business arrangement with the party and was brought on by two ANC agents.

She says that she had no choice but to take the matter to court after the ANC failed to remunerate her for her work.

The reason I had to go to court is because numerous attempts to have my invoice settled have failed.

Bolani is adamant that she is able to support her version of events with evidence.

Take a listen to her testimony:

Meanwhile, the ANC continues to reject the allegation that that they were involved in a covert 'war room' operation.

ANC national spokesperson Zizi Kodwa explains that the party had no contractual agreement other than with media partner Ogilvy.

In the ANC, we don't run covert or dirty campaigns against our opponents.

Zizi Kodwa, ANC spokesperson

This despite a written commitment by ANC general manager Ignatius Jacobs to pay Bolani a R1 million settlement agreement.

Kodwa says that Jacobs' agreement with Bolani was not binding with the ANC.

He says the party will have an internal investigation.
