Transport boss Ismail Vadi reveals plans to nail licensing fraud syndicate

Gauteng Transport MEC Ismail Vadi says as many as 394 more corrupt licensing officials across the province may soon be suspended.

Gauteng Transport MEC Ismail Vadi says as many as 394 more corrupt licensing officials across the province may be suspended in the near future.

The Hawks have arrested seven officials for fraud and corruption at the Martindale and Langlaagte licensing departments.

These arrests bring to 15 the number of officials arrested at traffic centres this month.

Vadi explains that the the provincial department is working closely with city officials in various metros.

This is a major operation on the part of the department and various municipalities.

He advises that there are 34 driver testing centres in the Gauteng province, all falling under different municipalities where corruption is rife.
