SABC 2 introduces schedule changes to win back Afrikaans viewers

As from the 6 March, SABC 2 television channel will introduce and return several Afrikaans series and game shows as part of its strategy to win back Afrikaans audience.

The public broadcaster will introduce a two-hour Afrikaans language block from 6pm to 8pm on Mondays and Thursdays.

Popular soapie 7de Laan moves from its current 7pm time slot to 6pm.

TV Plus editor, Lucia Swart-Walters, says SABC 2 has ignored its Afrikaans audience for the past two years.

Swart-Walters says it would have been better if SABC shortens its two-hour block and makes the programming daily.

For SABC this is their chance to show they can get some of their audience back.
