Sakhumzi Restaurant management says Vilakazi Street in Soweto has been facing a wave of crime since October 2016.
Police confirmed that the manager of Sakhumzi Restaurant on the popular Soweto street was shot dead on Sunday morning.
It’s understood that two men entered the restaurant in the early hours of Sunday morning while staff were cashing up, but the 60-year-old man refused them entry, saying that the establishment was closed.
Sakhumzi's Marketing Manager Archie Tsoka says various establishments on Vilakazi Street have been targeted in recent months.

Tsoka says there has been a pattern in the recent incidents with criminals attacking towards midnight and police have increased their presence after 8pm.
He says they appreciate the outpouring of support from South Africans.
Security discussions are ongoing between business owners, police and the community.

The manager who was shot cannot be named at this stage as not all next of kin have been informed of his death.
