Sakhumzi Restaurant management says Vilakazi Street in Soweto has been facing a wave of crime since October 2016.

Police confirmed that the manager of Sakhumzi Restaurant on the popular Soweto street was shot dead on Sunday morning.

It’s understood that two men entered the restaurant in the early hours of Sunday morning while staff were cashing up, but the 60-year-old man refused them entry, saying that the establishment was closed.

Sakhumzi's Marketing Manager Archie Tsoka says various establishments on Vilakazi Street have been targeted in recent months.

This is the fifth incident on this street since October. There's been this spate of robberies happening at Vilakazi Street.
