Identity politics explored

'Identity politics' is a much-used term, and it refers to ways in which people's politics may be shaped by aspects of their identity through their identification with a particular loosely associated grouping.

It often refers to people who focus on their identify as women, racial minorities, immigrants, LGBTQ people, and religious minorities.

Eusebius McKaiser hosts a panel discussion with Jacques Rousseau, a lecturer in critical thinking and ethics at the School of Management Studies, University of Cape Town, and Dr Danai Mupotsa Lecturer in African Literature, Wits University.

Interesting calls to the show raised a concern how people who consider themselves allies to the various causes, often feel excluded from the conversation and feel they should back off rather than contribute to debate.
