Farmworkers get even bigger cut in Solms-Delta wine estate

Farmworkers at the acclaimed Solms-Delta wine estate in Franschhoek's now own 45% of the business following an empowerment deal with the help of national government.

10 years ago, psychoanalyst and wine farmer Professor Mark Solms began a progressive move towards land reform and transformation by giving farm workers a third ownership of the estate.

Now employees have been given a bigger share in land and equity through a partnership with Rural Development and Land Reform Department.

Solms talks about land reform, transformation in the wine industry and the impact of the water crisis on the estate.
