Mahlangu resignation is not enough - Premier's office
The NGOs meant to be providing services to the 94 psychiatric patients were never vetted by the Health Department prior to them being moved there from Life Esidimeni. Speaking on CapeTalk, Thabo Masebethe, spokesperson of the Gauteng Premier's office conceded that the tragedy should never have happened.
The resignation is not enough. We need to ensure that this sort of thing never happens again. At the same time we have to deal with those officials who are responsible for this. We're dealing with matter... and looking at all the issues the ombudsman is raising.

On Wednesday Premier David Makhura instructed the director general to set up a process to find alternative and suitable facilities in public institutions where patients can be moved to. Disciplinary proceedings will also take place.
