Opinion: We can't allow Zuma to destroy our democracy

702 Breakfast host Xolani Gwala says it is clear the deployment of 441 South African National Defence Force (SANDF) soldiers is meant to protect President Jacob Zuma.

Zuma has previously complained that Members of Parliament "harass" him when he answers questions in the National Assembly.

We can't allow one man to define our democracy. We can't allow Zuma to use military just so that he can stamp his authority.

Xolani Gwala, 702 Breakfast host

Zuma is not going to be in office for too long. He cannot be allowed to destroy this democracy. He cannot be allowed to further destroy the dignity of that Parliament.

Xolani Gwala, 702 Breakfast host

We demand that Parliament remains what it promised to be, a people's Parliament. A Parliament that everyone can access without fearing guns of those 441 members of the South African National Defence Force.
