Remembering Joost

Dr Jack & Curtis reflect on the life of rugby player Joost van der Westhuizen who died on the 6th of February. Van der Westhuizen was diagnosed with motor neuron disease in 2011.

He was admitted to hospital on the weekend.

He represented the Springboks 89 times including the World Cup winning side in 1995 and captained South Africa at the 1999 World Cup. His record setting 38 tries are the most by a scrum-half at the international level. He has been described as one of the best players ever from South Africa

Tributes have acknowledged his role on the field and in his personal life.

Here are some highlights from his memorial service held at Loftus in Pretoria.
