Tshwane Mayor says Presidency did not invite DA mayors to #Sona2017

Tshwane Mayor Solly Msimanga spoke to Stephen Grootes on The Midday Report, from the parliamentary precinct prior to this evening's State of the nation Address (Sona).

Msimanga says it is worrying that Presidency did not invite the City of Tshwane to attend Sona while all spheres of government are supposed to be working together.

It was interesting that we are the first not to be invited by the Presidency office. It has happened each every year. This is the first time that me and other mayors have not been invited.

Solly Msimanga, Tshwane Mayor

We were are here because we got invite from leader of opposition, not because we got invite from the Presidency.

Solly Msimanga, Tshwane Mayor

Tshwane Mayor Solly Msimanga says the priority message needed from President Jacob Zuma's Sona are plans for infrastructure investment needed in cities and plans to attract investment in the country.

Msimanga says the City is currently preparing the budget for 2017/2018 and consulting the public for Intergrated Development Plan (IDP).

He says he will make sure that infrastructure receives a large chunk of the budget.

We also want to make sure that investment going forward, we target areas we want to receive investment in.

Solly Msimanga, Tshwane Mayor

he says it is not about bashing the ANC but rather about addressing the problems the country is facing.
