This week marks the start of Pregnancy Awareness week 2017 (10 - 16 February) and obstetrician Dr. Howard Manyonga is looking at the various types of childbirth and delivery.
Dr. Manyonga says the concern over increasing cesarean sections (c-section) as trend is a valid concern.
He says mothers and health practitioners need to explore the reasons why they may opt for c-sections.
He says the option of c-sections need take into account the best outcomes for the mother and baby.
According to Dr. Manyonga,mothers are able to choose vaginal delivery despite having a c-section for their previous childbirth.
He explores c-sections and natural births and the role of midwives, OB/GYN specialists and other clinicians.
