EWN's Clement Manyathela is on the scene and says hundreds of ANC supporters have showed up, clad in their party regalia.
President Jacob Zuma will deliver his 10th State of the Nation Address (Sona) at 19:00 on Thursday.
This is the first 'People's Assembly' hosted by the ANC, with as many as 10 000 supporters expected.
Supporters say they can't wait to hear what Zuma has to say and want to celebrate Zuma's final Sona as the president of the ruling party, reports Manyathela.
Meanwhile, some people suggest that the ANC is holding the gathering in an effort to deflect from the criticisms levelled against his leadership.
