Parliament to probe suspicious white powder and 'pepper spray'

Acting Parliamentary spokesperson, Manelisa Wolela, says it seems like someone in the gallery dropped a certain powder which triggered sneezing and coughing when Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) members were forcefully removed.

Wolela says they have set up an investigation to establish who was responsible for this.

He could not say whether it was a pepper spray used by police to disperse crowds when scenes of violence erupted.

In terms of evidence to be collected, we may be able to know exactly to who was seated where because everybody has a seat number. We will be able to settle it within a few group of people.

Manelisa Wolela, acting Parliament spokesperson

He says presiding officers were very patient when some Members of Parliament were disrupting proceedings.
