SA Society of Psychiatrists calls for overhaul of Gauteng healthcare system

South African Society of Psychiatrists (Sasop) has called for an urgent review and overhaul of the entire Gauteng Department of Health system.

Sasop president, Professor Bernard Janse van Rensburg, says the death of 94 psychiatric patients, who died after being transferred to unlicensed organisations by the department, shows that mental health is not prioritised.
