Len van Gelder secures his spot in the semifinals of the Dis-Chem Brain of 702 after correctly answering 15 out of 25 questions at Maponya Mall in Soweto. He becomes the winner of the second round and walks away with R5 000.
The mall activation was packed with 702landers from across Soweto. Audience members stayed well into the afternoon just to meet their favourite 702 presenter.
Co-host of NightTalk with Gugs and Sizwe, Gugulethu Mhlungu was the on air emcee of the day. She was joined by quizmaster, Stephen Grootes and judges Azania Mosaka and Eusebius McKaiser. The high court judges on the day were Aubrey Masango and Mzo Jojwana.

Len is a 66-year-old retiree born in Cape Town but now resides in Weltevreden Park on the West Rand. He calls it “The Wild West”. He has been married for 40 years, has three grown up sons and one grandson who he says is the apple of his eye.
Len, along with four other contestants, were given 90 seconds to answer a train of 25 questions from quizmaster Stephen Grootes of 702’s the Midday Report.
The annual competition gives those with a brilliant bank of general knowledge a chance to cash in and show off, both on-air and in front of a live audience at the weekly mall activations.
