Millions splurged on SABC deals violate Treasury and procurement rules

Times Media Group journalist, Stephan Hofstatter, says SABC violated Treasury and their own procurement rules by authorising an upfront payment to the company, Infonomix.

Hofstatter says a Treasury report reveals that the company failed a bank verification test and did not have a valid tax clearance certificate when the SABC paid the company R5,1 million for redesigning seven SABC websites.

He says the contract required a 5 million upfront fee before delivering services.

My sources say why (is SABC) paying people before Christmas. They will not be doing any work anyway.

Stephan Hofstatter, Times Media Group journalist

Hofstatter says there are other questionable deals SABC executives rushed through in December last year.
