EWN Reporter Clement Manyathela reports that the ANC Youth league want the current finance minister out of Treasury.
He reported on the press conference held by ANCYL today.
He says the ANCYL believe Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan has failed in his oversight responsibilities.
They used the example of how former Health MEC for Gauteng Qedani Mahlangu resigned because of the Esidimeni Life tragedy, and say Gordhan too 'must fall on his sword.'
This comes just two days after treasury released a statement cautioning people on attacking the finance minister, who is just about to release the budget speech next week.— Clement Manyathela, EWN reporter
Manyathela says whenever the ANCYL accuses Gordhan of criminality the press asks why if they have evidence have no charges been laid?
They also continue to argue Gordhan is too soft on white monopoly capital.
The press conference covered a number of other issues from NEC report back, the league's support for the fees Must fall campaign, and how they want the ANC to push with the idea of a state bank.
