Corporates launch car pooling App to beat Cape Town traffic

With commuters spending between 50 to 60 hours a month in their cars on their daily commute to work, a newly developed App called UGoMyWay hopes to alleviate the pressure on congested Cape Town roads.

Eighty percent of cars coming into Cape Town are single occupant vehicles and half of the people coming into the City are using private cars. If the App gets two people per car, we will halve the number of people coming into the City.

Ryan Ravens, CEO Accelerate CT

The App which is free to download on IOS and Android is an initiative by a group of corporates to collectively deal with daily traffic congestion.

The payment method which can either be daily, weekly or monthly is incorporated into the App and Ravens says people will save on fuel costs and is helpful for students travelling to school and university as well as office-bound people.

Listen here to Ravens explain to Kieno Kammies about payment and safety when using the App:
