If government misuse revenue people will evade tax - Tax Ombudsman

Tax Ombudsman Judge Bernard Ngoepe says people may find more reason to practice tax evasion if government continues to use tax ineffectively.

Ngoepe says they have received a number of complaints from people about struggling to submit their tax returns, but has written to Sars commissioner, Tom Moyane.

He says he is convinced that the issue will be dealt with.

People should feel morally obliged to pay tax... If we don't spend tax prudently, then people are going to begin to justify their reluctance to pay tax.

Judge Bernard Ngoepe, Tax Ombudsman

It's not a pleasure to pay tax in the sense that you are giving your money away.
