Moyane divulges details of 'strained' relationship with Gordhan, defends Sars
South African Revenue Service (Sars) Commissioner Tom Moyane says its 'regrettable' that Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan attributed the decline in tax revenue to the performance of Sars.
Moyane briefed the media in Pretoria earlier on Friday, following Gordhan's 2017 budget speech on Wednesday.
EWN's Clement Manyathela reports that Moyane says there are reasons for the decline in revenue collection.
He said there are a number of factors which led to the shortfall.Clement Manyathela, EWN reporter
Moyane said South Africa's economic outlook was one of the factors which led to the tax revenue shortfall.
The Sars boss also went into detail about his strained relationship with Gordhan, blaming it on a "personality cult" and interference, says Manyathela.
Moyane confirmed that he has requested President Zuma to appoint a third party to mediate the differences between him and Gordhan.
