MTN, driving connectivity in Cote d'Ivoire

Having firmly established their roots throughout the country, telecommunications giant MTN went from the seventh biggest operator in the Ivory Coast to the second – reaching close to 10 million subscribers over the last 12 years.

Positive about MTN’s significant progress thus far, CEO Freddy Tchalla attributes the decision to continue annual investments to the current strength of the country’s infrastructure.

Putting the network’s growth into perspective for a potential investor – in 2016, MTN saw an increase of 215% in volumes and, with convergence and the introduction of 4G, this rapid growth in the digital market is set to soar.

The distribution sector is available for disruption.

Offering advice to foreign investors, Tchalla says that the willingness of other countries to discover the various sectors will lead to the realisation that business in Cote d'Ivoire is extremely positive.
