Newly appointed Gauteng Health MEC Gwen Ramokgopa is inviting nominations for the appointment members for the new Provincial Mental Health Review Boards.
This comes after the recommendations of the Health Ombudsman, relating to the report on the Life Esidimeni saga.
Ramokgopa says Mental Health Review Boards will be established in each of the five health districts in the province.
She was hired to replace former Health MEC Qedani Mahlangu, who resigned after the damning report was published.
The Health MEC says she is taking on a tough role and appreciates the support and encouragement she's received.
Ramokgopa says she plans to strengthen partnerships with hospital boards, clinic committees, families and communities.
She explains that she has met with the mental health directorate in province to fully understand what could have gone wrong in the transfer that resulted in the deaths of over 100 psychiatric patients.
Ramokgopa spoke about key lessons learnt from the tragedy.
