SA Weather Service keeping tabs on heavy rains in Gauteng

South African Weather Service issued a warning of severe thunderstorms with possible heavy downpours and localised flooding.

Forecaster Mbavhi Maliage says SA Weather Service is now on the lookout for possible flooding in southern parts of Gauteng.

“We are on the lookout for possible localised flooding in Gauteng, because we have had some storms sitting there but at the moment they are dying out a bit.” Mbavhi Maliage, SA Weather Service forecaster

Maliage says there aren’t any warnings of severe weather conditions for the weekend for now.

Meanwhile, community members have recovered the body of a 14-year-old girl who was swept by flash floods in Soweto.

Search and rescue operations were halted on Thursday due to heavy rains saw several parts of Gauteng but her body was found by community members on Friday after the official search was called off by police.
