Minister Bathabile Dlamini remains mum before Scopa on CPS contract details

7 March 2017 12:31 PM

Social Development Minister finally answers questions on social grants payments before Parliament's Scopa but deal not signed yet.

Social Development Minister Bathabile Dlamini says officials underestimated the magnitude of work involved in the process of taking over the payments of social grants.

Parliament's Standing Committee on Public Accounts (Scopa) has criticised Dlamini for not acting sooner after Constitutional Court declared contract between the South Africa Social Security Agency (Sassa) and Cash Paymaster Services (CPS) invalid and unconstitutional in 2014.

According to EWN reporter, Lindsay Dentlinger, Dlamini has not revealed terms of the new contract with Cash Paymaster Services (CPS) but confirmed that the new deal has not been signed.

Dlamini has not revealed costs involved in the new contract.

She is very adamant. She says she will not be pushed into a corner by MPs to answer questions she doesn't have answers to.
