Gauteng Finance MEC Barbara Creecy opens up about the thinking behind the latest budget for the province especially, in education and health.

Our intention has always to be to cut costs on the kinds of things the government buys and spends on itself.

She says they have saved about R400 million over the past two and a half years, on things like corporate branding, catering, accommodation, internal travel and workshop costs.

We are trying to spend more on our citizens.
