'Inside job at OR Tambo International airport can not be ruled out'

Acting Police Commissioner, Khomotso Phahlane has committed to tracking down those responsible for the heist that took place at the OR Tambo International Airport.

He said everybody will be questioned. This includes police officers, Airports Company of South Africa (ACSA) and security officials.

Sources also claim at least six similar incidents happened last year. This was also confirmed by Bongani Maseko, (ACSA) CEO who was present at the media briefing.

This speaks to the sophistication and organisation of the criminal gangs.

Phahlane refused to disclose the exact amount of money that was stolen during the heist.

People posing as police officers can be pull guns at a secure facility, gain access to the facility and steal anything.
