What's up with WhatsApp groups?

It is unlikely that WhatsApp groups can be regulated, but they do bring out strong views among users, and they aren't all favourable.

Many of us find ourselves belonging to at least one WhatsApp group but what happens when the group chat no longer serves the purpose it was created for?

Most will agree that WhatsApp groups have proven to be instrumental in communicating messages of importance among colleagues or neighbours but they can also a pain in the neck for some.

Eusebius McKaiser and his listeners say they have often had to call out people for sharing unacceptable content in the groups. Others say they've had to turn off their group notifications because of the chatting that goes in the late evenings.

And it's a data guzzler as well.

702 welcomes all comments that are constructive, contribute to discussions in a meaningful manner and take stories forward.

However, we will NOT condone the following:

  • Racism (including offensive comments based on ethnicity and nationality)
  • Sexism
