Struggle hero immortalised in Kalushi, releases in cinemas across SA

South African film, Kalushi, will be released in cinemas on Friday 10 March across the country.

The film is based on the life of struggle hero, Solomon Mahlangu. He was convicted of murder and hanged in 1979 for his involvement in the anti-apartheid struggle.

CapeTalk on-air personality, Africa Melane says the movie Kalushi has been a labour of love for Director Mandlakayise Walter Dube for the past nine years.

According to Melane, Dube realised that the class he was teaching at the time did not know who Solomon Mahlangu was and decided to create a theatre play which has now turned into a movie.

Mandla's directing of this I find it very well handled. He is neither praising nor judging Solomon Mahlangu. He is simply informing South Africans.
