It's emerged that a one-month old baby has been taken hostage during a hijacking in Durban, Kwa-Zulu Natal.
Police say the mother was breast-feeding her baby in the CBD when she was ambushed by the hijackers who made off with the infant and the car.
According to reports, the baby’s mother had been forced out of the car at gunpoint at a Greyville shopping centre shortly before noon.
Police have confirmed that the stolen car has been found abandoned in Montclair, less than 20 kilometers away from the scene of the crime.
There are no leads yet on the suspects and there is still no sign of the infant.
Police have asked the public to come forward with any information.
