Popo Molefe to challenge Transport Minister's Prasa board decision

Former chairperson Popo Molefe has filed an urgent court application to challenge Transport Minister Dipuo Peters decision to dissolve the Passenger Rail agency of South Africa (Prasa) board.

An interim board was announced on Monday but Molefe says they want the interim board to be declared unlawful.

EWN reporter, Barry Bateman says Peters elected Nazir Ali‚ former CEO of the South African National Roads Agency (Sanral) as the chairperson.

Other board members include union boss Frans Baleni‚ former transport department spokesman Tiyani Rikhotso‚ Xolile George‚ as well as a representative from National Treasury.

He says Molefe wants the court to reinstate the dissolved board and the case is due to be heard in Pretoria High court on Thursday.
