Treasury report reveals SABC is running out of money

Business Day reports that a confidential Treasury risk committee report shows that there has been a crash in the reserves.

The total is believed to have plummeted to R174 million in December 2016 compared to R1 billion in cash reserves a year before.

Media Monitoring Africa MD, William Bird, says there is a need to develop better funding models for the public broadcaster.

Bird says there should be basic principles of good governance at the SABC.
