#LifeEsidimeni: Health Minister appoints independent tribunal

Minister of Health Dr Aaron Motsoaledi has appointed an independent tribunal to deal with the appeals arising from the Health Ombudsman's Life Esidimeni report.

It is reported that Gauteng Health Department’s HOD Dr Barney Selebano has decided to appeal the findings against him.

Professor Malegapuru Makgoba's report revealed that over 100 mentally ill patients died when they were transferred from the care of Life Esidimeni hospital to unlicensed organisations.

Health ministry spokesman, Joe Maila, says the tribunal is being established to accommodate people who want to appeal Makgoba's report.
