Trump's 2005 tax return papers leaked

15 March 2017 4:01 PM
702's Stephen Grootes speaks to US correspondent Nadia Neophytou about what the leaked documents revealed.

A two-page section of Donald Trump’s tax return for 2005 was leaked on Tuesday.

The leaked pages revealed that the president paid $38m in federal taxes on more than $150m in income for 2005.

According to EWN US correspondent Nadia Neophytou, it seems Trump was paying way less than he was supposed to in taxes - a tax rate of 25%.

During the 2016 presidential campaign, Trump promised to release his tax returns but somehow never did.

Neophytou says most presidential nominees have made their tax information available in the past and there is a lot of concern that Trump has refused to do so.
