SA to be represented at The Champions of the Flyway Project

Two teams of young South African's will be traveling to Israel to take part in an international competition which raises funds to protect migrating birds.

Champions of the Flyway participant, Andrew de Blocq, MSc Student at the Percy Fitzpatrick Institute of African Ornithology, says his team, called 'The Youth Africa Birders' aims to encourage birding as a hobby for young people.

Andrew says he grew his passion from his father who was a bird watcher.

He says South Africans have been involved in the competition for the last three years.
