Opinion: Eusebius McKaizer declares Helen Zille's apology feeble

Western Cape Premier Helen Zille posted a tweet saying the legacy of colonialism was not all negative, and subsequently apologised 'unreservedly for a tweet that may have come across as a defence of colonialism'.

CapeTalk and 702 talk show host, Eusebius McKaiser, says Zille's apology is hollow.

In my view, this apology is feeble. It doesn't acknowledge that she in fact defended colonialism, but claims "that (the tweet) may have come across as a defence", implying that we simply misunderstood.

In fact, she simply was being herself.

McKaiser interviewed Democratic Alliance leader, Mmusi Maimane, asking him what the party ascertains from Zille's comments.

Maimane condemned Zille saying an internal investigation and disciplinary processes will take place.

Although it took some work, I am happy in the end Maimane agreed that she violated their social policy and that it is reasonable to view her tweets as bigoted.
