How to treat your gastro bug

The stomach flu seems to be making the rounds.

Gastroenteritis, commonly called 'gastro', is an infection or inflammation of the digestive system, explains Dr Darren Green.

Symptoms include:

  • watery diarrhea
  • abdominal cramps and pain
  • nausea, vomiting or both
  • muscle aches or headaches
  • feelings of feverishness

Consult with a doctor if:

  • your losses of fluids can't be replenished
  • the diarrhea persist for longer than a week

He also gave advice on sinusitis, food poisoning, glaucoma and and other medical conditions.
