The story of Tesselaarsdal (and the Cape Epic)

Tesselaarsdal is tucked away in the mountains of the Western Cape’s Overberg region.

The story of Tesselaarsdal traces back to 1832's says Johan van Zyl, a resident of the area.

When the widow of Johannes Tesselaar, Aaltje van der Heyde left the farm Hartebees-rivier to slaves and their children.

On Monday, the Cape Epic participants will have a water point in the town, 23 kilometres from Caledon and 13 kilometres of gravel off the newly tarred R320.

Cape Epic riders are expected to pass through the area around 09:00 on Monday morning.
