When dealing with teens Bush suggests parents listen more often before they speak.

Sometimes young people come to you to talk, not to get a solution, but to actually verbalise their thoughts. Sometimes to verbalise is to materialise a solution. Engage with that conversation to empower your child to come up with their own solution.
