President Jacob Zuma apologised unreservedly to all South Africans about the uncertainty over social grants, and said he is determined to chair the inter-ministerial committee (IMC) to ensure the order of the Constitutional Court is implemented efficiently.
Before the ConCourt ruling the President had said he cannot be expected to evaluate "chaos" at the South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) regarding the payments of social grants from the beginning of April.
