No sign of two students swept out to sea

Two students have gone missing while swimming in a no-swimming zone at the Strand beach.

The missing pair were part of a church group that went for an outing at the beach.

Craig Lambinon, The National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) Spokesperson, says there is still, unfortunately, no sign of the boys.

He says the search, conducted by the police dive unit in collaboration with the Cape Town Fire Rescue Services Dive Unit is still underway.

Lambinon admits there are three warning signs in the beach area and has urged beachgoers to be cautious.

It's physically important to stop people from going into the water.

Lambinon adds that people have been known to ignore warning signs along the ocean. He says they have to highlight the importance of wearing a life guard and swim within the safety zones.
